Tall Boys - Gigs 1983 - 2013

Tall Boys - Set the world on Fire!

After helping to create the monster that was to be the now out of control juggernaut known as The Meteors. Nigel and Mark, (like two demented Dr Frankensteins) set about to create yet another beast, this time the moody/melodic and dark The Escalators. Nigel Lewis (Bass) finally settled with his new band Tall Boys in late 83. The original line up consisted of ex Meteor skin pounder Mark Robertson along with another ex Meteor skin pounder Woodie Taylor now switching to Guitar. This line up was short lived and James Alan was soon taking up the lead guitar duties.
It all started after the break up of The Meteors in early 1982. Songs had been recorded with Paul Fenech on Guitar, Woodie on Drums and Nigel on Bass for a 2nd Meteors LP. So after Nigel left around April time it was decided to release these tracks written by Nigel (the other songs by Paul to be retained by The Meteors) as a side project while Nigel planned his new venture The Escalators, so in the meantime he used his old nickname 'The Tall Boy' for the single that was to be released by 'Big Beat' in mid 1982.
Side A - Another Half Hour Till Sunrise' and 'Island Of Lost Souls' on the flip, both tunes are truly amazing but the A side is a monster psychobilly slice of deranged evil dead chaos and is and always will be in my top ten 45's.

The Tall Boys - 1982

So after a few great singles and the amazing 'Moving Staircases' LP, The Escalators came to an end with Nigel citing his back troubles, medication and surgery on his wish to finish this band and start something new and fresh so he returned to the Tall Boys name and started plans in mid/late 1983
